Master Plan Communications Receives OCPRSA 2024 PROTOS Award for Media Relations Campaign

Irvine, CA (Oct 9, 2024) – Master Plan Communications (MPC) announced today that the agency was honored with a PROTOS award from the Orange County Public Relations Society of America (OCPRSA) after implementing a successful media relations campaign for the 2024 Dana Point Film Festival (DPFF). The OCPRSA PROTOS Awards honor Orange County’s top public relations professionals, programs, and campaigns. The  chapter has recognized MPC with awards for exceptional strategic campaigns, tactical programs and professional excellence annually since 2012.

MPC is proud to be recognized as one of the top public relations firms in Orange County and grateful for this award. “The Public Relations Society of America maintains high standards, and the organization’s endorsement of MPC’s Campaign for the Dana Point Film Festival is a big deal to the agency and our client,” said President and Founder of MPC, Ashton Maxfield. “We worked diligently to implement our media relations campaign raising awareness of the Endless Summer + Dana Point Film Festival, and ultimately brought the community together for another year of fun in the sun.” 

The Dana Point Film Festival was an event that surfers, ocean lovers and OC residents will remember thanks in part to the strategic PR. The Master Plan Communications team was tasked with raising awareness for the DPFF and the individual events taking place within the festival. After research and planning, MPC set objectives including garnering over 500,000 local impressions and over 3 million broader impressions. While families, couples and friend groups were targets of the DPFF outreach, ocean lovers and marine life advocates were another niche group that MPC created specific plans to target. 

After utilizing a creative mix of media relations, press releases, social media and sponsor partnerships, the MPC team was able to exceed targeted media impressions and secured a variety of coverage across media types. With a record attendance of approximately 5,000 people, the 2024 Dana Point Film Festival was a success.
