Over 150 new and returning LA supporters rode to benefit the nonprofit’s mission

October 29, 2024 (Los Angeles, CA) – Boarding for Breast Cancer (B4BC) inspired Los Angeles to be the change for breast cancer awareness at this year’s 17th Annual Skate the Coast presented by LivOn Labs. On Sunday, October 27th, over 150 skate-bike-rollers joined B4BC in the 15-mile push for prevention from Santa Monica Pier to Dive N Surf in Redondo Beach, fundraising $65K for B4BC’s breast cancer education, prevention and survivorship programs. In their shining pink outfits and spirits, LA community members, including survivors and thrivers, spread B4BC’s mission of a healthy, active lifestyle + early detection as the best means of breast cancer prevention.

Skate the Coast weekend kicked off with a registration party at Firestone Walker Taproom in Venice, with participants dropping in to sign waivers, grab goodie bags and t-shirts and enjoy the evening’s program. Passersby made a stop at the event’s booths, taking a moment for breast health education and learning more about some of the different partners B4BC collaborates with. Booth activations included LivOn Labs, Kabaya and Firestone Walker Taproom. Partygoers also jammed out to music from DJ Morales, G Brown Sound, Flora Madrigal and The Lamones as they entered exciting raffles and auctions throughout the night.

Over one hundred participants got ready to rock and roll early Sunday morning, beginning the 15-mile push for prevention at Santa Monica Pier with the whole group, cascading the area with shades of pink. Everyone took off and made their way to Redondo Beach, making stops along the way to hydrate and fuel with a six-mile drop-in at Dockweiler Beach. The day was magical, powered by the California sun, Pacific Ocean breeze and dedication to the cause. Many participants honored the ride to a loved one affected by breast cancer or were a survivor and thriver themselves, reminding everyone of the purpose and impact B4BC has. Participants crossed the finish line at Dive N Surf in Redondo Beach, where they were met with a cheering crowd and celebrated with delicious food and drinks and fun activities to close out the day. Booths at the finish line party included LivOn Labs, Suja Organic, Pretty Tasty Tea, Wahoo’s Fish Taco, Super73, Firestone Walker Beer, Mate Maker Co Hard Kombucha, Kabaya Tough Gummy, TACOM, Arbor Collective, Dakine, Rock & Turf Mats and Sun Bum. Skate the Coast wrapped up with a performance from Moi of Tomorrows Bad Seeds and thrilling raffles and auctions.

It means the world to us that so many people, returning and new, join us in spreading the love throughout LA. Here’s to 17 more years of this impactful event,” said Lisa Hudson, President and Co-Founder of B4BC.
