August 7th, 2024 (Portland, OR) – Boarding for Breast Cancer (B4BC) is thrilled to announce their upcoming Skate the River fundraising event, returning to Portland, OR on August 25th. In partnership with the Rockstar Energy Open, Skate the River is a 5-mile tribute ride-style skate-bike-roll along the breathtaking Willamette River, welcoming all ages, abilities, and wheels to join B4BC in their push for prevention. The event aims to spread B4BC’s mission of a healthy, active lifestyle + early detection as the best means of breast cancer prevention, with a fundraising goal of $20,000 supporting the nonprofit’s education, prevention and survivorship programs.

The course will begin at Governor Tom McCall Waterfront Park near the Rockstar Energy Open venue entrance on Sunday, August 25th at 9am. From there, participants will cruise across the Steel and Tilikum bridges as they ride in honor of those affected by breast cancer.

To join B4BC in this push for prevention, individuals simply register, fundraise, and skate-bike-roll! Participants can register for Skate the River here. There is a minimum $25 registration donation, which will include a goodie bag and raffle tickets. And the fun and fundraising doesn’t stop there!

Prizes from top action sports brands will be awarded to the top three fundraisers for both individuals and teams. For every $100 fundraised, participants will receive an extra 10 raffle tickets for more chances to win.

Skate the River marks the second event in B4BC’s Summer Skate Series, preceded by 20th Annual Skate the Lake in Tahoe City, CA which raised nearly $70,000. Following Skate the River will be B4BC’s 17th Annual Skate the Coast event on October 26-27th, closing out the series.
