The Annual Gala Raises Proceeds for Teen Mental Health Educational Programs

September 28, 2023 (Irvine, Calif.) – Tilly’s Life Center (TLC) is hosting its 9th annual “I Am Giving” Gala and is pleased to announce this year’s honorees, including Sunburst Youth Academy, Tilly’s Inc. (NYSE: TLYS, “Tillys”), and Dr. Patricia Crane and Rick Nichols of Heal Your Life. At the gala, guests will commemorate their continued support of TLC and its mission to inspire teens to reach their full potential as productive, kind, happy, and responsible individuals.

The “I Am Part of the Solution” award will go to Sunburst Youth Academy (SYA) for its commitment to serving at-promise adolescents and giving them “Their Best Chance at a Second Chance.” SYA is a premier residential leadership academy for adolescents at risk of not graduating. Their five-month onsite program assists cadets in developing the discipline, confidence, life skills, and education necessary to fulfill their potential. TLC greatly values its partnership with SYA and is honored to serve beside them in bringing vital mental health resources to their cadets.

Tillys will receive the “I Am Making a Difference” award for their ongoing generosity; Tillys is truly a leader in corporate social responsibility. Since TLC’s inception, Tillys has contributed an extraordinary number of resources and in-kind donations, hosted events, and provided funding to help increase the number of teens positively affected by TLC’s life-changing program. Most recently, Tillys launched the “Round-Up-4-Change Campaign,” where customers can “round up” at the register in their retail stores. TLC thanks Hezy Shaked and the Tillys’ Executive Team and staff for their ongoing efforts to support youth well-being.

The final recipients areRick Nichols and Dr. Patricia Crane of Heal Your Life, who will receive the “I Am Part of the Bigger Picture” award, acknowledging those who positively impact their communities and beyond. This year’s honorees have expanded their mission into 71 countries, inspiring people of all cultures to embrace their highest potential. TLC has adopted philosophies, such as positive thinking, self-love, and empowering affirmations, from You Can Heal Your Life author Louise Hay as one part of its transformational curriculum for youth.

“On behalf of the TLC team and our students, I’d like to express my gratitude to each of our honorees for their ongoing partnership throughout the years. We hope these awards help convey our genuine appreciation for their generosity and endless support of our mission,” said TLC’s CEO, Colleen Versteeg.

The 9th Annual “I Am Giving” Gala will be hosted on October 7 at the [AV] in Irvine, CA. Proceeds will directly benefit the organization’s educational services to equip teens with critical life skills and tools to help combat high rates of suicide, anxiety, depression, bullying, school violence, substance abuse orders, and addiction. This year’s theme is Enchanted Garden Ball, with guests entering an enchanted garden escape to enjoy delicious food, drinks, entertainment, silent and live auctions, and raffles to benefit teen mental health.
